“It was definitely a day of follow the leader. The track was narrow and dusty and we had very little room to pass. We never really got to open up the Hummer and show its strength. The Dakar is winding down and I’m satisfied with what we have accomplished. We certainly have quite a few pages of notes that we will apply to our program next year. The best thing that has come out of this year Dakar Rally is the experience our team has gained. My guys are already looking forward to coming back next year and hitting the ground running right away. Of course we are proud to be the first American team and manufacture to win a stage in the Dakar, but truthfully there is unfinished business for us here. Even though it looks like we are going to win the open category for this year’s race I think when we return our main objective is to give the factory teams a run for their money.”

Have they given all of them a run for the money? Oh yeah…

With only one day to go Robby and Andy still stand 8th overall. Wow. That alone is something to be proud of. No doubt Team USA will be the winner’s of the open class. I love that he said we still have “unfinished business”. Rabbit business, no doubt.

So….5th today in stage 14. Pretty darn good. Way to Go Andy Robby and TEAM DAKAR USA.

Robby Gordon - Andy Grider -Dakar Astro-Forecast stage 11

You know the saying “I’m out in Timbuktu?” Well…Robby and Andy are where Timbuktu is. Mali.

The Dakar Rally big wig boss’s decided to cancel the two Néma-Timbuktu and Timbuktu-Néma stages, scheduled for the today and tomorrow, after the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised against running the 10th and 11th stages.

In spite of the extensive surveillance and the guarantees provided by the Mali authorities, this precautionary measure is vital in safeguarding the security of the competitors.

After the sporting teams of the rally considered an alternative solution, a loop stage from Néma to Néma, including a timed sector of 376 kilometres, which is what was run today. Tomorrow, the competitors will enjoy half a rest day, and will then take to the road for a liaison stage of approximately 280 km towards Ayoun-el-Atrous in Mauritania, from where the next start of the rally will start on 18 January, heading for Kayes in Mali.

Robby’s ’scope just get ’s better and better. This is his year. Period. Robby and Andy are 8th place overall as of today.

Dakar - Stage 10

Stage 10 : Nema-Nema- 36600m

Robby Gordon and Andy Grider did amazing to CP1, they tied with the leader, N.Al Attiyah, with a time of 1hr 56mins 49secs, though they are listed in 2nd. At CP2 Robby and Andy came in fifth, only 1min 28secs behind the leader, H.Masuoka (JPN). They lost 34mins in the final 5okm, finishing 23rd for the stage but still 8th in overall standings. I haven’t found what happen to them, I’ll let you know if I find out.

Boise State’s Chris Petersen won the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award on Thursday night as the national coach of the year. Petersen led Boise State to a 13-0 record and the No. 5 spot in the final AP poll in his first season as the team’s head coach. The Broncos finished the season with a 43-42 overtime victory over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.

(My little) Quarterback Jared Zabransky, who led the Broncos to a perfect 13-0 season, the nation’s only undefeated team by the way, will lead the Kai against the Aina squad, in The Hula Bowl which features three Gators who upset Ohio State in the BCS National Championship game last week.

Robby Gordon - Andy Grider Dakar Stage 8 ~Top Ten Finish!!

Team Dakar has had a pretty good day with a stage finish of 8th place at 18:12:36. This place’s Robby and Andy 9th over overall!!
Team Dakar USA’S time at each CP was :
CP 1 : 12:43:18
CP 2: 15:17:21
CP 3. 15:58:00

Those darn Rabbit’s were all pretty fast today…the variation between #320 Team Dakar USA and #301 DE VILLIERS and VON ZITZEWITZ was 1:14:44.
Uhbeehuhbeehuhbeeeehuhbeee right back as soon as I know any more…plus ’scope’s for stage 9.

Here is the Video from Stage 5. My golly- gosh gee- whiz! Scary!! There must be some craziness involved. There is no other explanation why anyone would do this.
